New Game – Rollie

I have completed a new game titled “Rollie”, you can play it here: The basic premise of the game is simple, use the left and right keys to navigate the tire and space to jump. As you progress, more and more platforms will generate and you see how far you can make it. It is both a game of skill and chance. To mix things up a little bit, there is a random wind factor that can make movement much harder. Let me know what you think and feel free to post your high scores below.

Some future enhancements:

    Make the game mobile friendly
Allow the wind to actually move the tire rather than just alter movement
    High Scores

Career Change

I have been programming professionally for seven years now and have been programming as a hobbyist for over 15 years. Now, I am leaving programming altogether and moving my career to IT Security. This was actually a planned part of my career path and I am very excited about the change of focus. I am hopeful that this will actually have a positive impact on my blog. I love programming and I have no intention of quitting. This should motivate me to spend more of my free time coding games and writing tutorials for this site, rather than letting it stagnate for months at a time. Here’s to the future!

I ran across this quote today and thought it was oddly appropriate for many of us. In the hagakure, by Yamamoto Tsunetomo, there is a passage that reads: “Among the maxims on Lord Naoshige’s wall there was this one: “Matters of great concern should be treated lightly.” Master Ittei commented, “Matters of small concern should be treated seriously.””
